we know avatar was never a romance story, and guess what? we don’t care.
because it’s fun.
most of us enjoy everything about avatar on our own time, AND we ship. shipping is just one of those things that brings people together, especially on a place like the internet.
and who cares if we know jackshit about any of the characters? that’s what makes it more exciting.
you, sanctimonious op, have no place to tell anyone who’s a real fan and who’s not.

I hate when people assume that we don’t care about anything besides shipping in the show. It’s infuriating, and annoying, and no one can tell me whether or not I am a “real fan”. Shipping is for fun, and there IS romance in the story. The romance is just one element on the show that makes it so fantastic.
I can ship whatever the fuck I want. That doesn’t mean that I value the show any less if it didn’t have shipping.
